In November last year, our grounds maintenance and repairs depot teams supported a local community group with three truckloads of bark chippings.

We have a lot of spare bark chippings due to our tree maintenance programme, and normally we use this for mulch across our own planting and border sites.

With thanks to a bit of team work within Futures, we were made aware of community gardening group Grow Outside, in Butterley. Grow Outside runs a programme of events and gardening projects to support people across Amber Valley, and they were in need of freshening up their site.

We delivered three truckloads of bark which enabled their volunteers to repair their paths and walkways in time for their many Christmas activities.

A volunteer said: "Thank you! Futures' great efforts in getting this delivered has made a huge different to us. My dog also says thank you for his bark pile too!"
