Lucille Bremner, 57 became a Futures customer in 2019. Since then, her bungalow has been fitted with various energy saving measures.
The most recent measure was solar panels fitted to the front of her home in September last year. Lucille said; “When I found out I was getting solar panels, I thought it was a wonderful thing. I got a letter first from Futures and I went around to my neighbours to make sure they’d got the letter and were going to go ahead with it too.”
Lucille lives in a cul-de-sac in the village of Guilsborough, Northamptonshire. A quiet street, yet one made up of a group of close-knit neighbours who help and look out for each other. From collecting shopping for each other, helping in the garden and even going on trips together.
“I was round my neighbour's house one time when Anglian Renewables (one of the contractors) rang and they said they’d be visiting us in person. They came out and they were amazing. They were very knowledgeable and really, really kind and helpful.
“It took a few months from first being contacted to the solar panels being installed but we did have multiple letters and phone calls to keep us updated. We had so much support all the way through, I have to say I was very impressed.”
For the solar panels to be fitted, scaffolding was put up around Lucille’s home. Lucille said; “It was all very quick. They arrived, scurried up there and got on with their work. I gave them cups of tea and biscuits and they were very clean and tidy. It only took them a few days to do mine and some of my neighbours'.”
Lucille has a smart meter so can see when the solar panels are generating energy. She said: “It even works when there’s not much sun too. I can look at it and see it being used and then know I didn’t pay for that load of washing or to boil that kettle.”
